Sometimes when dinner feels like a rush, the solution isn’t to make something fast, it’s to make something that’s slow but takes almost no work from you. That’s Slow Cooker Hurry Chicken, a hands off recipe for sticky, saucy chicken that’s so delicious you’ll make sure it’s in your regular dinner rotation.

What Ingredients Do You Need for Slow Cooker Hurry Chicken?

You only need seven! They are:

  • Chicken drumsticks or thighs. About 3 pounds.
  • Ketchup.
  • Brown sugar.
  • Worcestershire sauce.
  • Red pepper flakes.
  • A packet of onion soup mix.
  • Cornstarch.

And water, but I’m not counting that as an ingredient. And, of course, you’ll need your trusty crockpot.

How Do You Make Slow Cooker Hurry Chicken?

Here’s all you do:

Stir together the things for the sauce — the ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire, red pepper flake, onion soup mix, and a mixture of water/cornstarch. Pour that mixture over the chicken, toss the chicken so it’s coated, then cover your crockpot, press a button, and walk away.

For extra credit, you can simmer the sauce to reduce it a bit and make it stickier, but that’s not totally necessary.

How Does it Taste?

The sauce is a great balance of sweet and savory with just a little heat! I know the combination of ingredients might seem a little odd, but really, it’s somewhat akin to a sweet barbecue sauce with some extra onion flavor. It works. And it works really well.
