Pumpkin pie is a classic fall dessert, and it’s hard to imagine a Thanksgiving table without one. If you’re looking for a simple way to add a little excitement to the table this year without straying too far, this Sour Cream Pumpkin Pie is worth a try. It starts with a rich, traditional pumpkin filling, that’s topped with a tangy sour cream layer. That slight tang balances the sweetness of the pumpkin in the most delicious way!

This recipe is also easy to put together, which is always helpful when you’re preparing a big holiday meal. The pumpkin filling comes together in one bowl, and the topping takes just a few minutes to mix. You’ll bake the pie at two different temperatures before adding the sour cream layer and returning it to the oven for a final few minutes. Just be sure to let the pie cool completely before slicing so the filling has time to set.

Serve this Sour Cream Pumpkin Pie as the finishing touch to your Thanksgiving dinner, or make it for any fall gathering where pumpkin desserts are welcome. It has all the familiar flavors of pumpkin pie with an extra creamy topping that makes each slice a little different. If you enjoy traditional holiday desserts but like trying a small twist on the classics, this recipe is a good one to keep around.
