At first glance, this Caramel Pecan Pie looks like a regular pecan pie. It has the familiar golden crust, plenty of pecans, and that classic holiday dessert look. But one bite makes it clear that there’s something different going on here. The secret is the caramel in the filling, and we’re not exaggerating when we say it might just be the best pecan pie anyone has ever tasted.

Another thing we love about this recipe is how easy it is to make. There’s no need to fuss with homemade caramel or complicated steps. A handful of pantry staples and a bag of caramels are all it takes to turn a simple pie crust into something special. It’s the kind of dessert that looks right at home on a Thanksgiving table but is just as welcome any time you’re craving a really good pie.
Instead of making a traditional pecan pie filling, this recipe uses melted caramel candies, butter, and milk to create a rich, sweet base. Eggs, sugar, vanilla, and a little salt round everything out before the pecans are stirred in. The caramel gives the filling a deeper, buttery flavor that makes this pie stand out from the usual version. It’s still wonderfully familiar, just a whole lot better.

Give the pie a good half hour to cool before slicing so the filling can set. Then serve it up and see what everyone thinks. The crunchy pecans, flaky crust, and rich caramel filling make every bite worth it, and don’t be surprised if this becomes the pecan pie everyone asks you to bring year after year. We know it looks like an ordinary pecan pie, but trust us on this one: that caramel makes all the difference.

Caramel Pecan Pie
Ingredients
- 1 round pie crust dough
- 36 Kraft caramels, unwrapped
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups pecans
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees and fit pie dough into a 9-inch pie dish, crimping edges as desired.

- In a large bowl, combine sugar, eggs, vanilla, and salt. Mix until well combined, then slowly mix in the caramel mixture.
- Stir pecans to the filling mixture, then transfer to the prepared pie crust.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, covering with foil if crust is over-browning.
- Allow pie to cool for a minimum of 30 minutes before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
