If you’re a fan of the holiday cocktail the Tom & Jerry, then these cookies are for you! It seems no one can quite agree on the origin of the drink. It may have been a famous bar tender in St. Louis named Jerry Thomas, or possibly a British author and playwright back in 1821 who named the drink of his main characters.
The one thing I do know is those warm holiday flavors make a darn good cookie. The dough is loaded with nutmeg and the simple glaze adds that hint of rum flavor. Make it a retro Christmas and add them to your cookie list this year!

The cookie dough is a simple butter-and-sugar base flavored with vanilla and nutmeg. Once mixed, the dough gets a short chill before being rolled into logs and sliced into little pieces. They bake up with lightly golden bottoms and a tender texture that makes them hard to resist.

The icing is what really ties these cookies back to the drink that inspired them. A simple powdered sugar glaze gets a little rum extract, vanilla, and nutmeg for that familiar holiday flavor. Drizzled over the cooled cookies, it adds just the right amount of sweetness and a nice finishing touch. A little extra nutmeg on top makes them look especially festive.

These Tom & Jerry Logs are a great option for Christmas cookie exchanges, holiday parties, or a homemade treat to share with friends and family. They have that nostalgic flavor that feels right at home during the colder months, and their small size makes them easy to arrange on a dessert tray. If you’re looking to add something a little different to your usual holiday baking lineup, these spiced cookies are a fun place to start!
