Creamy noodles are my idea of comfort food. Typically in the form of mac and cheese, but today’s recipe might just give that classic dish a run for its money. Allow me to introduce you to the Hungarian Noodle Bake. It’s an easy one-pan wonder that’s perfect for weeknight dinners or church potlucks. Hearty egg noodles are baked in a creamy poppyseed sauce for a dish that everyone is bound to want seconds of. Let’s get into how it’s made!

The secret to this dish is in the rich and creamy sauce. A mix of cream of mushroom soup, chicken broth, Worcestershire sauce, and a handful of spices make up the base of the sauce, while cottage cheese and sour cream bring in the tangy flavor. And let’s not forget the poppy seeds— these tiny add-ins bring a touch of nuttiness and a subtly crunchy texture. Yum!

A generous sprinkling of Parmesan cheese and extra poppy seeds on top finish off the dish, then it’s time to bake! It will need about 45 minutes in the oven to reach bubbly perfection, then it’s time to dig in. This dish is hearty enough to serve as a main, but it also pairs wonderfully with a fresh green salad or roasted veggies. Whether you’re looking to switch up your dinner routine or introduce a new comfort classic to your table, this Hungarian Noodle Bake is bound to be a hit.
