If you’re looking for an appetizer that’s guaranteed to disappear fast, these Beer Cheese Smokies are a good place to start. They’re the kind of party food that feels right at a game-day spread, holiday gathering, or casual night with friends. And since they’re made in the slow cooker, they’re about as easy as an appetizer can get.

To start things out, the cheese sauce gets mixed with German-style beer and a little spicy mustard, giving it plenty of flavor without making things complicated. Once the smokies are added, everything cooks together until the sausages are hot and coated in that creamy cheese sauce. It’s a simple combination, but so delicious!

The slow cooker does most of the work here, which makes these a great make-ahead option when you have other things to worry about. Let them warm on low for a couple of hours, then keep them in the slow cooker so they stay hot throughout the gathering. You can serve them straight from the pot with toothpicks for easy snacking.

For an extra fun pairing, serve these Beer Cheese Smokies with soft pretzels or slices of crusty bread. The salty pretzel and creamy beer cheese are a natural match, and there’s no shortage of sauce to scoop up. This is the kind of easy appetizer that disappears quickly, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself making a second batch!
