There’s something especially fun about a retro recipe. These little bites feel like something you might have been served at a ski lodge decades ago, alongside a hot drink after a day on the slopes. They’re simple, savory, and exactly the kind of snack that’s easy to keep coming back for more!

The topping comes together with just a handful of ingredients and spreads right over slices of white sandwich bread. Once baked, the bread gets crisp around the edges while the cheesy topping turns golden and bubbly. A little dried dill on top gives them a nice finishing touch.

These would make a great après-ski snack, but you certainly don’t need a mountain getaway to enjoy them. They’re just as handy for a holiday party, game day, or casual gathering at home. The recipe is quick to prepare, which makes it especially useful when you want something warm without spending much time in the kitchen.

They’re unfussy, filling, and easy to eat while standing around and visiting with friends. Serve these warm from the oven and let the compliments role in!
