This is one of those recipes that is so simple that you can barely call it a recipe. So don’t. Call it an idea, a suggestion, a proposal of something absolutely adorable that you should make for Valentine’s Day this year. And why not? This will take you just three ingredients, about ten minutes of your time, and makes an already sweet holiday all that more festive with very little effort.

See? So cute. Here’s what you need:

  • A bag of pretzel twists
  • A package of candy coating (almond bark, candiquik, etc)
  • Candy hearts or heart sprinkles or some other sort of small heart-shaped confection

That’s it.

You line up those pretzels on a baking sheet and then melt the candy coating however the package tells you to go about it before you transfer it to a ziptop bag. Do you need a pastry bag and a fancy piping tip? No, you do not. Just cut off the corner of that ziploc and pipe the candy coating into heart shapes on the pretzels. But good news, the pretzels are already vaguely heart-shaped, so you really just have to follow the line of the outer ring of pretzel.

And then you press a heart-shaped something into the center of each pretzel. Your work is done. Now, you can use conversation hearts or heart-shaped sprinkles or whatever smallish heart-shaped candy you can find. These are great for classroom treats or just to have on hand as a delicious sweet and salty snack.
