A classic Christmas cookie gets a twist! Chocolate Chip Snowball Cookies are the same tender cookie you love and know, but with the swapped-out change of mini chocolate chips!

Several cultures across the world lay claim to the snowball, and there’s no one right way to make these cookies. Here, the classic walnut mix-in is swapped out for a decadent (and conveniently more allergy-friendly) alternative to chocolate.

The cookie base is crazy simple. After the butter and powdered sugar are creamed together, the vanilla, flour, and salt are gradually added in until the dough forms.

Using a tablespoon or a tablespoon-sized scoop, portion out the dough and roll them into balls, placing them evenly spaced on a parchment-lined baking sheet. These cookies won’t brown like a classic cookie. After seven to ten minutes, they’ll get slightly brown on the bottom, but they won’t on the top.

While the cookies are still warm from the oven, roll them in powdered sugar.

If you want an even snowier effect, dust them with powdered sugar before serving.

Chocolate Chip Snowball Cookies are the perfect universal gift-giving cookie. Their texture is tender and delicate in the center but slightly shortbread-like on the outside, meaning they are easy to transport and pick up with a cup of hot coffee or cocoa.

The mini chocolate chips are a nice contrast against the vanilla-laced cookie. They are so easy to make, and you can easily double the recipe for a crowd!
