When a recipe starts making the rounds online, we can’t help but wonder if it’s really as good as everyone says. This Viral Donut Bread Pudding kept popping up on our feeds, and with a handful of store-bought ingredients and almost no prep work, it was too tempting not to try.

Instead of using day-old bread like a traditional bread pudding, this recipe starts with donut holes. As they bake, they soak up a rich mixture of evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk, turning soft and custardy. A sprinkle of cinnamon adds warm flavor, and a layer of French vanilla cake mix creates a buttery topping that bakes up to golden perfection with the help of plenty of butter.

One of the best parts about this recipe is how little effort it takes. There are no eggs to whisk, no complicated steps, and no special baking skills required. Just layer everything into the baking dish and let the oven do the rest. It’s the kind of dessert that’s perfect when you need something sweet without spending hours in the kitchen.

The finished bread pudding is super indulgent and best served warm. The creamy center pairs perfectly with the lightly crisp topping, making every bite taste like a cross between bread pudding, coffee cake, and a glazed donut. Enjoy it just as it is, or dress it up with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream
