There’s something about old-fashioned Southern party food that never really goes out of style, and this Southern Cheese Slaw is proof. Somewhere between a cheese spread, a relish tray favorite, and a scoopable dip, this recipe brings together sharp, creamy, tangy flavors in the most irresistible way. It’s the kind of dish you’d spot at church potlucks or family reunions, always surrounded by a crowd with crackers in hand!

What makes this recipe especially fun is the combination of cheeses and peppers. Swiss cheese gives it a nutty bite while mozzarella keeps everything mellow and stretchy-soft. Then come the peppers — mild banana peppers for a vinegary tang and pickled jalapeños for just enough heat to wake everything up. It’s creamy without being overly heavy, and every scoop has a little crunch and zip from the onions and peppers.

And of course, no Southern-style spread would be complete without Duke’s mayo. Just a few spoonfuls are enough to pull everything together while still letting the cheese and peppers shine. Letting the mixture rest before serving is the real secret here. Those thirty minutes give the flavors time to mingle and mellow, turning a handful of simple ingredients into something surprisingly addictive.

Pile it into a serving bowl with buttery crackers, sturdy pretzels, or even celery sticks and watch it disappear. This is one of those recipes that feels delightfully retro in the best possible way — easy to make, full of bold flavor, and guaranteed to spark a few conversations around the snack table.
