What Ingredients Are in Cinnamon Sugar Butter Swim Biscuits?
It’s a lot of the usual baking suspects! You’ll need:
- Flour.
- Baking powder.
- Sugar.
- Buttermilk.
- Butter.
- Brown sugar.
- Cinnamon.
See? Simple. But it all comes together into something beautiful!

How Do You Make Cinnamon Sugar Butter Swim Biscuits?
Butter Swim Biscuits are a little different from most other biscuits because the idea is that they kind of swim in butter while they bake!

So, the first thing you’re going to do is pour a mixture of melted butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar into the bottom of your baking dish. Then, you’ll mix together the biscuit batter and pour it right on top of that butter. You’ll need to spread it out a bit, and then you’ll top it with a cinnamon sugar mixture.

Score the dough to create nine squares — this will help you divide them later. As the biscuits bake, the butter rises up and over the top, and as the batter bakes in that butter, it makes the edges wonderfully crispy while the interior is fluffy and light. We wouldn’t mind if all our baked goods swam in butter!
