Baked ziti on a stick? YES! It makes sense if you think about the perfect bite of baked ziti in that top layer. The gooey mozzarella cheese is on top followed by a thick layer of ricotta cheese and marinara. YUM! Introducing the perfect cheesy bite of baked ziti that is kid-friendly, plate-free, and just plain old fun to eat. You can put any food on a stick and it will excite me. These pasta bites cool quickly which helps the cheese coagulate around the pasta making stick together and easy to eat. I dipped mine in marinara sauce to finish and that’s all she wrote! It’s eight ingredients and it takes no time at all!

Start by skewering your cooked pasta on a wooden skewer making sure every pasta piece is side by side. This method is ingenious because hot-cooked pasta will stick together as it sits. Think of any bowl of drained pasta that you sit in a bowl. The water evaporates rapidly almost gluing the starches to themselves.

Mix your ricotta and dollop each line of pasta with three big dollops to give you that delicious cheesiness. All the ricotta may loosen as it cooks on the noodle, but the mozzarella cheese will act as the final glue to the skewer so don’t worry about losing too much. I used store-bought RAO’s marinara for the red sauce over the ricotta, which in turn makes an excellent hot dipping sauce after these are cooked.

Bake these skewers in the oven mounded up with lots of grated Mozzarella for the final touch. Once that cheese gets golden brown remove it from the oven and LET THEM COOL. This is hot pasta on a stick, it needs at least five minutes to cool for the cheese to setup keeping the whole stick in tact. I would start a food truck with this idea alone. It’s a great trend going around and I think you will absolutely fall in love with this. TRY ME!
