Augusta’s Green Jacket Salad
The famous salad from the world’s most famous golf tournament.

The Masters isn’t just known for being the first major golf tournament of the year. It’s also known for its iconic food, like the $3 pimento cheese sandwich and, of course, the famous Green Jacket Salad. The Green Jacket Salad actually originated at the Green Jacket Restaurant across the street from Augusta, but it’s sadly no longer in business. Luckily, you can make this delicious and unique salad at home, and you don’t even need a tee-time or a tournament to do it.

What Ingredients Do You Need for the Green Jacket Salad?
All in all, it’s a pretty simple salad. You’ll need:
- Iceberg or romaine lettuce.
- Cherry tomatoes and green onions.
- Some Accent seasoning and seasoned salt.
- Pita chips.
- Parmesan cheese.
- Olive oil and red wine vinegar.
- And some parsley and oregano.

How do You Make the Green Jacket Salad?
A little chopping and a little whisking and that’s all there is to it!
It’s easiest to start with the dressing, which you can do right in the bowl or in a separate container. Just whisk together the oil, red wine vinegar, fresh parsley, oregano, seasoned salt, and Accent seasoning.

You can use your favorite seasoned salt, any kind will work. Accent seasoning is basically just MSG. You can skip it if you wish, but it does add a savory umami quality to the salad that really makes it special.
Next, chop up that lettuce and halve those cherry tomatoes and get them into a big serving bowl. Grate some parmesan over that and then add the pita chips, which is the thing that I thinks make this salad a standout. Just crush them over the top and then pour that dressing over and toss everything together.

The pita chips stand in for croutons and they give you just as much crunch, if not more. They have a little more bite than your traditional crouton and they pair really well with the rest of the simple salad. The dressing is tangy and savory. It’s such a bright and refreshing salad; definitely give it a try, whether or not you’re a golfer!
