Sometimes you want an incredibly tasty meal that’s also easy to make. Texas hash, with loads of yummy spices, is just that type of recipe. The familiar ingredients make it comfort food, but presented in a way that you might not have tried before.

To make this dish you combine the beef, dry spices, and vegetable in a deep skillet and then sauté with olive oil.

Next you add the water, Worcestershire sauce, and canned tomatoes to the pot. Then you add the rice and simmer for 20 minutes.

It’s easy to make this recipe drier if you prefer by simply cooking it a bit longer, but personally I like it a bit more moist. The choice is up to you.

You can also change up how spicy to make this one-pot meal by adding hot sauce, extra spices, or even jalapeños at the first stage of cooking. Likewise, this is an easily adaptable recipe that can accommodate the addition of other veggies -fresh or canned- like celery, carrots, fresh tomatoes or whatever else you have on hand.

Once you’ve gotten the consistency you desire and the rice is cooked through, this tasty dish is ready to serve. You can add cheese on top if you desire, but it’s delicious both ways.

Hearty, comforting, and easy to make, Texas hash is one for the rotation.
