Super Yoopers Horizontal 2

I have been on a homemade snack mix kick lately and the results have been absolutely de-licious. The flavor combos are endless, but my favorites have undoubtedly been the sweet and salty mashups. For instance, these Super Yoopers. The name grabbed me as I grew up in Michigan and spent many summers at our family’s camp in the UP (upper peninsula). If you aren’t familiar with this regional slang, a Yooper is someone from the UP. I’m not quite sure how these treats got their name, but I can tell you they are super addictive. Give them a try and I’m sure you’ll agree.

The base of this treat is made up of just three ingredients: kix cereal, pretzel sticks, and pecans. The pretzels are crushed slightly before they’re mixed in– I find it’s easiest to do this in a large ziplock. Mix the dry ingredients together and then pour melted chocolate over top and stir until everything is evenly coated. Transfer the mixture onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet and let the chocolate fully harden. It’s then time to break the candy into bite-sized pieces and dig in!

These crunchy treats make the perfect party snack, bake sale goodie, or fun weekend activity with the kids. The fact that they come together in a matter of minutes and don’t require the oven certainly doesn’t hurt. The next time you’re in need of an easy treat, I highly recommend you give these Super Yoopers a try.
