Stick of Butter Beef and Rice is one of those recipes that combines the richness of, well, butter with the hearty meal stretching staples of rice and ground meat. This simple casserole bakes up in the oven with no stirring or fussing, making it a great recipe to have in your arsenal.
Stick of butter rice is a recipe well known throughout the internet as an easy way to add a punch of flavor to the neutral canvas of rice. But here, the addition of protein turns this side dish into a main dish.
To start, this dish starts off with cooking ground beef. While you can season the beef now, it’s best to hold off on the salt, as the broth for the casserole is higher in salt and will season the ground beef as it cooks.
Next transfer the beef into the casserole dish followed by rice, water, thyme, consommé, and of course butter. Top the casserole with the butter, making sure it is distributed evenly over the top.
Wrap the casserole tightly with aluminum foil for thirty minutes, and then bake uncovered for an additional thirty minutes.
Served straight from the oven, this recipe is the perfect casserole that satisfies on a deep comforting level. The consommé seasoning the rice and beef with the perfect amount of deep savoriness and accentuates the savory meaty elements.
The rice is tender but still keeps its shape.
While you may think that the butter may sound like a lot, it is the perfect amount to coat the rice and beef, keeping it from getting dry.
Thyme has a nice herbal touch that compliments but doesn’t overpower the rest of the components.
It’s soul-satisfying in the best possible way!
