Just as we want to dive into fresh, crisp vegetables, there’s a recall on various mixed vegetables and salads with one common denominator — cucumbers.

A few weeks ago a Florida grower had recalled cucumbers after it had gotten several people across multiple states sick. That recall didn’t just stop there. Just last week, Supreme Service Solutions LLC (also referred to as Supreme Produce) recalled items that were purchased from Bedners Growers Inc. for Kroger’s and their affiliated companies. There was a risk that the products sold contained salmonella. In healthy individuals, salmonella can cause nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain. For the elderly, the young, and immunocompromised, it can cause more serious side effects like arterial infections, inflammation of the heart, and arthritis.

The main vegetable that is of concern again is the cucumbers, which are in a variety of salads, salad mixes, and vegetable platters. It was Bedners Growers that detected the salmonella in the cucumbers, initiated the recall, and reported it to the FDA. Below is a list of all of the recalled food items.

So far there are twenty-six reported recalls in AL, CA, CO, FL, IL, KS, KY, MI, NC, NY, OH, PA, SC, TN, and VA to just the cucumber recall. As of this moment none of the reported illnesses have been connected to the prepackaged veggies but the risk of salmonella being present.
If you have purchased any of these items, dispose of the food. In case you want to contact the company, you can reach out to Bedner Growers, Inc. at 866-222-9180, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m. EST.
