Pistachio Puppy Chow 9-min

Puppy Chow has been one of my all-time favorite treats since childhood. I was first introduced to it at a school bake sale and have been hooked ever since. I had the classic recipe memorized by high school because I made it so often (not sure if that should be a point of pride or shame), but it wasn’t until recently that I started venturing into the world of different Puppy Chow flavors.

As a huge fan of all things pistachio, I knew this version was a must try. Can it hold its own against the classic chocolate and peanut butter? You’ll have to give the recipe a try and decide for yourself!

Like the original, this version still starts with Rice Chex. You can mix everything in a large bowl, or my preferred method is to toss it together in a clean brown paper bag. With the bag method you can fold the top over and shake it all together without turning your kitchen into a cloud of powdered sugar. You also can also toss or compost the bag when you’re done which makes cleanup a breeze.

The pistachio flavor not only adds a fun twist, but gives the treat a gorgeous green hue. It would be a perfect treat for the holidays, a baby shower, or St, Patrick’s day. Set it out in a big serving bowl or bag it up for individual servings. No matter what the occasion, this Pistachio Puppy Chow is sure to be a big hit!
