Cheddar & Sour Cream Pasta Salad
Mac salad inspired by the famous flavor combo!

If you’re looking for a pasta salad that feels familiar in the best way, this Cheddar and Sour Cream Pasta Salad fits the bill. It has all the creamy, tangy comfort of a classic deli-style salad, with just enough crunch and color to keep things interesting. This is the kind of recipe that shows up at potlucks, backyard barbecues, and family gatherings because it’s easy to make and everyone just loves the flavors.

The base starts with a classic bite-sized pasta like ziti or cavatappi , which is perfect for soaking up the dressing . Diced red bell pepper, red onion, and celery add freshness and crunch, while shredded cheddar cheese brings in that rich, savory bite. Every ingredient has a purpose here, and none of them are fussy or hard to find. Our kind of recipe!

The dressing is where this salad really shines. A mix of mayo and sour cream makes it extra creamy, while a splash of white vinegar brightens everything up. Pimientos add a subtle sweetness and color, and celery salt ties the whole dish together with a classic, old-school flavor. A little sugar balances the tang, making each bite smooth and well balanced.

Once everything is mixed, a short chill in the fridge lets the flavors come together. This pasta salad is best served cold and makes a great side for grilled meats, sandwiches, or picnic spreads. It’s hearty without being heavy and familiar without being boring—exactly the kind of recipe you’ll find yourself making again and again.
