I am always game to order a flauta or taquito when eating out but I’m not always game to deep fry things at home. The solution? These delightfully crispy Baked Chicken Flautas. They’re very easy to make (and you can even switch up the filling if you’d like) and all you need to cook them is your trusty oven. That means they’re healthier than the restaurant option, which in turn means that you can really eat them anytime you want. And I can promise you that’s something you’re going to be happy about.

What Do I Need For Baked Chicken Flautas?

Not a lot! For the filling, you’ll need chicken, Monterey Jack cheese, cream cheese, taco seasoning, and your favorite salsa. To wrap it all up, you’ll need flour tortillas in the soft taco size.

How Do I Make Baked Chicken Flautas?

All you’re going to do is mix together your filling ingredients… (And if you have a rotisserie chicken, this is a great use for the leftovers).

… and then spoon them down the center of a tortilla.

Then, you’ll roll each one up and place it seam side down on a baking sheet. (Foil helps as this can get a little messy.)

And here’s the key: you brush each one very thoroughly with oil. It doesn’t need to be a ton of oil, you just want to make sure that each flauta is evenly covered. It even helps to give the whole thing a spritz of cooking spray after the fact.

And then you bake. These are pretty quick — in just ten to fifteen minutes they should be beautifully golden brown and crisp.

Dip them in whatever your heart desires and enjoy that crunch!
