I’ve been lucky enough to escape having dropped something important into a toilet, like my phone. But I’ve had friends who have, and they said the experience was quite gross having to fish their phone out from the icky bowl.
But when it comes to dropping things into toilets, sometimes it’s better to call for a plumber rather than trying to do it yourself – especially if the item has gotten stuck.

Perhaps that is the advice that one woman should’ve followed rather than going and trying to retrieve her dropped phone herself. It happened while the woman was hiking in Olympic National Forest in Quilcene, Washington, just outside of Seattle.
She had made it to the top of Mount Walker when nature called and she had to make a pitstop at one of the outhouses.

Like most outhouses, the toilets are a little different from the ones we have in our homes. Outhouse toilets are essentially pit toilets where the contents get flushed into a pit just underneath.
Well, the woman was using her phone while she was in the facilities but she had a mishap, and the phone ended up falling into the toilet. Rather than leave her phone behind, she decided to undergo a rescue mission of her own.
She first tried to get it out by lowering a dog leash into the pit. When that didn’t work, she tried lowering herself headfirst and she ended up falling in. Talk about gross!

Fortunately, she was able to locate her phone. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to get out of the pit.
But, her phone was working and had reception, so she was able to call 911 for help. That is when the firemen showed up to rescue her.
Not only did they get her out, but they also managed to hose her down and advised her to get some medical attention following her exposure to human waste.
Next time, just leave the phone in the car.
