A recent cheese recall has now expanded to include Clover Hill Dairy’s entire line of cheese.

Previously, only the requesón and soft ricotta varieties were affected and recalled after testing positive for Listeria monocytogenes, but the recall has quickly grown to include all cheese products manufactured at their facility.

One person has died related to this outbreak and eight have been hospitalized so far.
Listeria symptoms generally start within two weeks of eating contaminated food, but can start as soon as the same day or as late as 10 weeks later. When symptoms are mild, they may include fever, muscle aches, nausea, fatigue, vomiting, and diarrhea. However, when the more severe form develops, symptoms may also include headache, stiff neck, confusion, and convulsions. In the most severe cases, death is a possibility.

The recalled Clover Hill Dairy products were sold directly from their retail store, at farmers markets, and various retail locations throughout Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, and Washington D.C.

The FDA recommends that you check your refrigerators and freezers for any recalled cheese. Do not eat it, sell it, or serve any recalled cheese. You may return it to the place of purchase or throw it away. Affected cheese was sold from May 15th through May 28th, 2026.

If you have symptoms of a Listeria infection, contact your healthcare provider right away.
