Weis Markets has issued a recall of thousands of cartons of Weis ice cream, due to safety concerns. Over 11,000 containers have been taken off their store shelves for fear that they contain bits of metal. An FDA announcement shared that the cartons “may be contaminated with extraneous material, specifically metal filling equipment parts.”

The recall included pulling 10,869 containers of Weis Quality Cookies and Cream Ice Cream and 502 bulk containers of Klein’s Vanilla Dairy Ice Cream. were also recalled. You can find information regarding the UPC codes and best buy dates on the FDA recall announcement. According the announcement, someone reported finding “an intact piece of metal equipment” inside a carton of Weis Quality Cookies and Cream Ice Cream.

197 Weis Markets’ stores are affected by the recall, including store locations in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, and West Virginia.

Klein’s Cookies and Cream Dairy Bulk and Nelson’s Graham Slam Bulk were both packaged on the same day. However, these containers have not been distributed to the general public.

Anyone who purchased on the recalled cartons can return the time for a full refund.
