It is no secret that brides everywhere like to be able to dictate the tenor of their wedding but this woman took it one step further. There’s nothing wrong with a bride wanting their big day to look a certain way but many are saying that this woman took it too far.

TikTok user Samantha Twist asked everyone to dress in a pastel or neutral shade and has inspired a lot of commentary for this decision.

It’s definitely an interesting conversation. It’s also not one that we ever expected to have but here we are. Another woman posted a clip that kicked everything off. The woman spoke about how she received a “dress code along with our invitations” that asked attendees for some “light, earthy and neutral tones in their attire for the day.”

Twist admitted in her video that she was actually responsible for behaving like this. “So I actually did this,” she began. From there, things got even crazier, as she admitted that the plan backfired totally.

It was not long before her own family members were threatening not to come to the wedding. She continued to explain but it did not come off much better than expected, that is for sure.

“I posted on our wedding website some examples and just said ‘hey I would like if you could wear something like this.’ Also colours to avoid. Basically everyone was outraged,” she says. We can understand why, honey. That’s a big ask to throw at people like this. It’s a lot to add to people’s plates when they just want to be there for your special day.

“I got some much crap for posting this, one of my aunts even told me if I care so much about what she wears she is just not going to show up. My mother-in-law was calling my husband, at the time my fiance, saying ‘what the heck is up with Sam? Does she not understand that people don’t have money to buy a whole new outfit?,” she continued.

“Everyone basically thought I was the devil for asking them to wear near neutrals, although I think most people have grey or beige or navy blue in wardrobe,” she concludes.

Due to popular request, she did share photos of the wedding guests and party and claims that the request ended up “working” because the guests all matched.

However, many people pointed out that the photos looked like any other wedding photos and the dress code didn’t make a big difference.
