When it comes to wedding planning, deciding upon a cake is probably one of the more enjoyable tasks, but after you sit down and eat a dozen or so flavor combinations, can you really choose just one flavor? If it seems nearly impossible, you’re not alone because this couple had the same thought and decided to have a wedding cake with as many flavor combinations as possible.

This YouTube video-making couple is not new to the world of mixing and matching flavors to make “Franken flavors,” so when it came time for their wedding, they wanted to do the same thing.

After consulting a famous cake Youtuber, they strategized and mapped out a cake to have 32 cake flavors, all of which had corresponding buttercreams to match each specific flavor. Shortcuts were taken and they added flavorings to cake mixes to speed up the project, but the process of prepping, baking, frosting, and assembling the cake still took over 72 hours.

If you include the cupcake topper, the cake ended up being nine layers in total. A fun fact about the cupcake was that the cupcake was a blend of all 32 cake flavors making it the ultimate Franken flavor. Though it has the color similar to mocha cake, the strongest flavors were lemon, mint, and matcha.

After tasting and testing, which cake flavor combination reigned supreme? “Everybody’s Favorite Flavored” cake (funfetti, carrot, chocolate, and peanut butter) was a clear winner for the couple and their guest taster. Even though each of these four flavors kind of collide, it was like the ultimate buffet of cake flavors available: sweet, rich, earthy, and salty.

The second runner-up was dubbed the “Spice and Everything Nice” cake. Cinnamon and pumpkin spices paired beautifully – not just with the spice cake – but complemented the mild German chocolate and classic vanilla cakes as well.
