In the 1940-50s Taylor was notably very slim owing in part to her youth. During this time she ate steak, eggs, peanut butter, and sugary foods with abandon (as did most of us when we were young). After she became a mother her diet changed quite a bit in order to ensure she was slim enough for Hollywood, but as we can see from her 1980s cookbook her victuals still included some of the more decadent foods she had come to love.

Rich dishes like sour cream and cottage cheese casserole and steak with peanut butter on top were balanced out by simple meals like dry toast and fruit for breakfast or snacks like fresh veggies with dip.
