Chance meetings really are the best, aren’t they? If you have ever seen the movie Fight Club, you probably remember the concept of the “single-serving friend.” This is when we have a moment with someone in passing and then never see them again.
In the case of these strangers, we are actually hoping that this is the beginning of a truly special friendship that stands the test of time.

Those of us who have small children of our own can relate to this story. Our little ones have been known to take a liking to random strangers, too. In most instances, we try to keep them separated. It’s not like any of us want to encourage our children to walk up to strangers on a regular basis anyway.
The man in this story was not going to allow this little boy to be upset, though. The young boy, Brekken, was dying to sit and have a nosh with his old friend. Does it matter that these two have never actually met before now? Of course not. That’s what makes this connection such a special one.
“I’m not sure who this man is and I’m sure he just wanted to eat his meal in peace but Brekken had other plans,” his mom shared on Facebook. As they were trying to take the child back to the car, the man asked for him to come back. From there, they sat at the table and enjoyed chips and salsa together.

It was like the two had known each other for ages.
“Brekken was completely content and told him ‘bye’ like he had known him his whole life,” his parent continued. “It’s the small things… He didn’t have to do what he did but completely made Brekken’s whole day.”

Let this be a lesson: it costs $0.00 to make a child’s day. According to the family, the man’s name is Darius West and the two have become good friends. Brekken’s mom learned that West is currently experiencing financial hardship and homelessness, so she started a GoFundMe to raise money for him.
