These crunchy clusters of sweet Chex mix are as addictive as they look. I make this for a big crowd, and it costs less than $10. It makes for a perfect party or holiday snack. Mix all the sauce ingredients in a sauce pot and pour it over this salty blend. I bake mine in two large aluminum pans and bring it to the party in two gallon Ziploc bags. It’s a sugary treat I like to make for the family once a year. They are obsessed with it!

Start the recipe off by browning your butter. Do this low and slow while prepping the other ingredients. The brown butter will richen the taste, coating your taste buds in nutty bliss. Add the soy sauce, sesame oil, vegetable oil, corn syrup, sugar, and toasted sesame seeds and stir until the sugar is combined.

It’s time to toss this sauce with your Chex blend. Make sure you have a big enough bowl or aluminum tray to toss everything in because this mixture is hot and sticky. I tossed mine in a HUGE stainless steel bowl with two wooden spatulas. Divide it up between two aluminum trays and bake to set the coating.

The bake for this snack low and slow which helps to evenly distribute the mixture between everything, and also helps to de-cluster all the pieces. I like the clusters, so I only toss this twice. Once halfway through the hour-long cooking process and once after I take it out. If you want smaller clusters, toss this twice as much through baking.

I like to remove this from the oven, give it my one toss, and then let it cool completely. The sugar needs time to hard and the fat needs time to get absorbed. If you have a big countertop, I just dump it all out on there and it cools the mix very fast. Store in an air-tight container or Ziploc gallon bag.

Bring this to a party as is with a stack of Dixie cups. People love to hold and walk around with their snack. It’s like popcorn. It’s addicting, it’s crunchy, and it’s going to be your new favorite treat. There’s endless combinations of mix-ins so try experimenting with your favorites.
