Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Mark Woodley works as a sports reporter at KWWL-TV in Iowa and was recently given the chance to wear a different hat for once.

Since the recent blizzard had led to the cancellation of numerous sporting events, the station decided that they still needed to get their money’s worth somehow. That’s when they gave Mark the chance to handle the weather report instead.

Woodley’s response to this unique opportunity was a priceless one. “I didn’t even realize there was a 3:30 also in the morning… until today,” he said in a video shared on Twitter.

We did not know that the sports reporters were allowed to sleep in, while the weather reporters had to make sure that they came in early. It makes sense now that we have had the chance to think about it. After all, it is not like the weather takes a break, whereas sporting events usually do not take place all that early in the day.

This is what happens when you ask a sports guy to do the weatherman’s job. If anything, this one gives us a greater level of appreciation for what the weatherman does every day. They are up before the sun even rises, letting us know how to face the day.

That’s not to say that the sports reporter does not have an important job as well. They are the ones who let us know about all of the happenings in their world. For their next trick, they should have the weather reporter handle the sports reporting. Videos like these make us appreciate all of the jobs that are handled each day even more.

If everyone got the chance to take a walk in each other’s shoes for a bit, they might start to appreciate each other a bit more. All of that is well and good but in the meantime, take a moment out of your day to laugh at this hilarious video.

We are right there with you, sir, we had no idea that there was a 3:30 AM either. We will do our absolute best to avoid finding out, too.

Hopefully, other news stations take a cue from this video and are willing to start swapping reporters around to see how hilarious things can get. If this clip is any indication, there is a lot of humor to be mined from these types of situations. Shout out to Mark for being such a good sport!
