There’s something about French desserts that always feels effortlessly elegant, and this Parisian Apple Cake is no exception. It’s a humble recipe, made with simple pantry staples and fresh apples, but the result is a cake that feels like it belongs in a charming cafe in Paris. With tender bites of apple tucked into a buttery, spiced batter, this cake has just the right amount of sweetness without feeling too heavy. It’s the kind of treat that’s special enough for company but simple enough to enjoy on an ordinary afternoon with coffee or tea.

There are a few additions to this cake that really set the flavor over the top. The apples are tossed with a little apple cider vinegar, which helps keep them from browning and adds a subtle tang. Cinnamon and cardamom add warmth and a hint of spice, while the rum and vanilla round out the flavor. A sprinkling of sugar on top caramelizes giving every bite the perfect crunch.

It pairs beautifully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert or you can slice it up for a little brunch treat. Whether you’re baking it for family, friends, or simply for yourself, it’s a recipe that never disappoints. Once you’ve made it, you’ll see why it’s the kind of cake you’ll want to return to again and again.
