Nowadays, it seems as if people are more conscious consumers, with many willing to pay more for products that are for sensitive skin or for those with gentler chemicals. So it comes as a shock that an item meant to be gentle and marketed as less harsh is the focus of a fast-track recall. Several alarm bells went off when Woolite’s line of sensitive skin detergents was quickly recalled after there was evidence of dangerous bacteria in the product.

While most people with functioning immune systems aren’t affected by the bacteria, specifically the pseudomonas species of bacteria, those with allergies or those who are immunocompromised can get seriously sick from these types of bacteria. The bacteria can enter the body quite easily and do so through the eyes or a break in the skin.

The recall only impacts Woolite Delicates Detergent in its fifty-fluid ounce size. Most of the recalled detergent was sold through Amazon in January 2025. Reported and initiated in mid-March, this recall will be handled as a voluntary recall, and the company is expected to provide a refund to those who had purchased the detergent. This recall is nationwide, and there are a total of 16,200 units of detergent that are contaminated with the lot codes S24364, S24365, and S24366.
