The Kawachi Fuji Garden is home to the famous Wisteria tunnel in Kitakyushu, Japan. The tunnel features over 150 Wisteria flowering plants and more than 20 different species.
Wisteria a flowering plant from the pea family (Fabaceae) and is known for its colorful vines that climb by twining their stems around supportive structures. They come in a variety of colors including purple, violet, pink and white.

You’ve most likely seen photos of the tunnel on Instagram as it is bursting with color.

Located about 6 hours from Tokyo, the best time to visit is from late April to Mid-May as this is when the flowers are in full bloom.

The garden is private so you will have to pay an entrance fee. But we think it’s totally worth it.
