A little sweet and a little heat, this Hot Honey Sauce will be coating everything from chicken breast, chicken wings, pork, and spare ribs. A simple mixture comes together in a flash to have a sauce that has an addictive, zesty flavor.

When it comes to hot sauces for meat, buffalo has been the long-dominating king, but this hot honey sauce is the black horse of the kingdom. It has a lot of the same elements of buffalo sauce, but with a countering sweetness that makes it easy to eat.

Hot sauce, melted butter, and honey are whisked together, and that’s it—literally, that’s it. This sauce comes together so quickly, but it’s packed with a great amount of flavor.

Coating a batch of chicken wings will create wings that satisfy people who have varying levels of spice tolerance.

Hot Honey Sauce is perfect on wings, but it’s also a great sauce to drizzle on pizza or brush onto grilled pineapple as well.

Try it out with your next grilling or game day session. It’ll make hot sauce more accessible for everyone, with a perfect contrast of sweetness!

10m prep time
8m cook time
Allergens: Milk
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup Louisiana hot sauce
- 1/2 cup honey
- 8 tablespoons salted butter (you’ll only need 4 tablespoons for a thicker version)
To make a thinner sauce:
- In a large bowl whisk together the hot sauce and honey.
- In another bowl that’s microwave safe, melt the 8 tablespoons butter until completely melted and very hot. Slowly whisk the melted butter into the hot sauce-honey mixture. The sauce should coat the back of a spoon.
To make a thicker sauce:
- In a saucepan combine hot sauce and honey. Set the pot over medium-low heat and bring the hot sauce-honey mixture to a boil, coating for about 8 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
- Stir the 4 tablespoons butter into the sauce until melted. The sauce should coat the back of a spoon but be slightly sticky.
