The word Zambonopita is kind of a mouthful, but the pie itself is definitely a delicious mouthful. It’s a simple Greek Ham and Cheese Pie that comes together in one bowl and is packed with protein as well as a ton of savory flavor. It’s the kind of quick bake that works well for breakfast or brunch, but is also perfect as an on-the-go snack or a simple lunch. It’s versatile, it’s tasty, and it’s so easy to make!

What Ingredients Do You Need for Greek Ham and Cheese Pie?

A lot of them you probably already have on hand. You’ll need:

  • Butter, eggs, and milk.
  • Deli ham.
  • Greek yogurt OR cottage cheese.
  • Feta cheese.
  • Mozzarella cheese, too.
  • Flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Black pepper and nutmeg.

Greek yogurt is the more traditional option, but cottage cheese can be a great choice if you’re looking to add a little more protein to the mix. (Both are delicious!)

How do You Make Greek Ham and Cheese Pie?

Great news, you only need one bowl to make this! Whisk together your wet ingredients first. That’s the eggs, the yogurt (or cottage cheese), and milk. Then, whisk in the flour, baking powder, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until they’re just combined. Stir in the feta, mozzarella, and ham and get it in a baking dish. Easy, right?

You can use either an 8×11 or a 9×13 baking dish here; it just depends on how thick you want your slices to be. The smaller baking dish will give you a thicker pie. In either case, you want to brush the baking dish with melted butter. Once the batter is in, drizzle the rest of the melted butter over the top.

This will take about 45 minutes in the oven and it will puff up nicely. It can get soggy if it sits in the baking dish, so if you’re not planning to serve it right away, store the slices on a wire rack so they’re not absorbing any moisture. Enjoy!
