Every married or engaged woman has had a close call with their ring at least once. Usually, it’s a simple case of mistakenly putting it away in the wrong drawer in the jewelry box or leaving it somewhere silly like the sink counter or inside the fridge.

Most of us never have to face the possibility that it is gone forever in a snowbank. However, one woman from Houston, Texas had quite the close call while on vacation in Colorado.

Paulina Morales was enjoying the snow in Breckenridge, Colorado, with her fiancé, Deven Maraj, when she accidentally lost her engagement ring in a snowbank after Maraj playfully pushed her in.

Once she climbed out of the snow, she made the horrifying discovery that it had slipped off her finger. Needless to say, she was quite upset, believing the ring to be completely lost and never to be seen again.

Morales, who had gotten engaged to Maraj back in August 2020, spent the rest of her vacation days alongside Maraj and her family, looking for the lost ring in the snow.

It did not surface, and she had no choice but to return home without her engagement ring. However, all was not lost when a local Denver TV station covered the story.

According to CBS Denver, CBS4 Mountain Newsroom reporter, Spencer Wilson, reported on the incident, citing that the couple would give a $500 reward to whoever found the ring.

Wilson himself even went out after the broadcast and took a blowtorch with him so he could melt the snow and search for the ring. Unfortunately, the ring escaped him.

The ring was eventually found a day later, tucked under some packed snow by another local resident, Tony Pizzamigalo, who went out to the site with a metal detector.

Eventually, after two different attempts, Pizzamiaglo was able to locate it and return it to Morales. She was beyond thrilled to learn her ring had been recovered.

As she stated over and over, according to CBS Denver, “I’ve got chills! I’ve got chills!”

As a way to further thank Pizzamiaglo, she invited him to their wedding.

Later on Facebook, Morales wrote, “This whole experience was unforgettable, every single thing happens for a reason. If I could go back, I would not change a thing about it. So grateful for the people I met, for the places and scenic views I got to see just because of this ring. Definitely a story to tell for years to come.”

Pizzamigalo was happy to accept the $500 reward, however, he has plans to donate it to the Summit County Rescue group.
