This wedding DJ was apparently able to get one over on a newly married couple and now, he is telling his story.

For most of us, stories like these are not too shocking. After all, when is the last time that you saw a DJ use turntables? We have the sneaking suspicion that many of them are simply pressing play on their MP3 collection and calling it a day.

Of course, there are those who will point out all of the awesome technical advancements that have taken place in recent years. These advancements allow DJs to handle their usual mixing, without all of the cumbersome equipment that they once had to carry. While we would like to approach this topic in good faith, we have reason to believe that we may be right.

This DJ, who goes by @mr__fireworks on TikTok, is confirming our suspicions and we cannot stop laughing. “White weddings be like,” reads his caption. “I’m getting paid $4,000 for this,” he added. He showed a crowd that was having a great time dancing to the remix of Weeknd’s hit “Bright Lights.” Everything seemed wholesome enough at first….until he took the time to show us his screen.

The DJ panned his camera down to show his computer that had Spotify up with a playlist titled “Top 200 Wedding Songs.” The video has received 5 million views on TikTok as people lined up to share a few innocent chuckles at this couple’s expense. Some of the commentators had the right idea about the decision that this DJ decided to make.

“We absolutely know the DJ is just running a Spotify most of the time, but really we just want someone who will read the room and keep the vibe going,” they said. We can agree with that assessment. As long as they are not starting a playlist and walking off, there is no problem here.

However, other people in the comments were quick to point out that the Spotify playlist in the clip was actually paused, it wasn’t playing at all. The other computer that featured regular DJ software was likely playing the music and the DJ just pulled up the Spotify playlist to have some fun on TikTok. Either way, it’s fun to think about!
