Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Gardening season is now upon us and it is time to learn more about all of the projects that will spruce up our outdoor spaces this summer. Even the non-green thumbs out there are sure to enjoy these tips and pointers. If you’d like to add a fun three-tiered herb garden to your space this summer, this guide is here to provide you with the help that you need.

While this task may sound complicated, all you need is a large terra cotta pot, four potted plants of varying heights, soil, and the terra cotta plant.

By choosing plants of differing heights, you are able to create a tiered look.

The first step is a simple one: fill the pot with soil. As soon as the pot has been filled with soil, you’ll want to make sure that the tallest plant is in the back. Otherwise, you won’t be able to enjoy that awesome tiered look. The medium height plants need to handled next.

Take a closer look at the sides of the pot. If you include some plants that are lower to the ground, they’ll droop over each side. This creates an awesome look that allows your garden to truly stand out from the crowd.

When you’re ready to finish the process, take the second-shortest plants and place them in the front. As a finishing touch, you can add some rocks and your terra cotta garden will be looking wonderful!
