Classic Peanut Butter Blossoms
A classic cookie enjoyed generation after generation.

I remember Peanut Butter Blossoms fondly from my childhood and assumed they were kind of an ’80s or early ’90s trend, but it turns out they go back so much further than that! The original version was actually an entry in a Pillsbury Bake-Off contest in 1957. As the years went on, Hershey’s kisses became the standard candy topping and they’re known for their signature look as much as their flavor. A soft and chewy peanut butter cookie, that sweet chocolate candy kiss balances the salty peanut butter so beautifully that these are a must-have in any holiday cookie box. (Though they’re welcome any time of year in my house!)

What Ingredients Do You Need for Peanut Butter Blossoms?
It’s mostly your baking basics. You’ll need:
- White and brown sugar.
- Peanut butter. Creamy, please.
- Butter.
- One egg.
- Flour.
- Baking soda and baking powder.
- Hershey’s kisses.

How Do You Make Peanut Butter Blossoms?
Despite what their adorable look might indicate, they’re actually a very easy cookie to put together. No chilling or cutting out of the dough… it’s basically a drop cookie!
First, cream together both sugars and the butter and peanut butter. Then, simply mix in the dry ingredients (the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.)

That’s the dough! From there, you simply scoop out the dough and shape it into a ball that’s about an inch wide and roll it in granulated sugar.

Pop them on a baking sheet and get them in the oven just until the edges are turning golden. You want these to be soft so keep a close eye on them.

Once they’re out of the oven, press a candy kiss into the center of each cookie and transfer them to a wire rack to cool. You want to let them cool completely before you serve them — the chocolate will soften quite a bit from the residual heat but then set up again. They’ll still be soft enough to easily bite into, so don’t worry there.

The combination of peanut butter and chocolate is always a winning one and never more so than in these classic Peanut Butter Blossoms. They’ve been popular for decades for good reason!
