Chipotle lovers, you are finally in luck. One of your longest waits is finally over. Chipotle, at long last, will be serving quesadillas. Some may have assumed that the enormously popular Mexican food chain was already providing them, but nope!

For starters, how are we going to get our hands on some of these (presumably) delicious quesadillas? While they are available online, it’s important to note that you can only order them through the app or online. They’re not available for order in-stores.

While this menu item has been under consideration for quite some time now, Chipotle has taken its sweet time adding it to the menu, but with good reason. You see, in order to release the quesadilla, they would have to change up the assembly lines altogether and obtain new cooking equipment.

The news comes as a surprise for those who assumed that Chipotle would be able to make the change with relative ease. Yes, burrito bowls and tacos are able to be prepared more quickly, but the quesadilla is a totally different beast. The aforementioned items are made fast but quesadillas need time for the cheese to melt and the tortilla to turn a nice, golden brown.

The quesadillas were tested as a digital only item last year, in cities like Indianapolis and Cleveland. Carne asada made its triumphant return last fall and was only available to customers who ordered through the site or app as well.

The strategy also benefits the customer. With online orders, this cuts down on the wait time for the customer because they will not need as much time to make it. The quesadilla is now available nationwide. Let us know what you think!
