If you have spent any time in a bar over the course of your life, you have probably found yourself wondering about bar spoons and their usage.
Why do bars have them and what purpose do they even serve? This is a natural question and now we have been given the right answer. Just wait until you see this video for yourself….
Kaitlyn Stewart is responsible for the creation of a popular TikTok account known as @likablecocktails. She is the one who shared the clip and we are grateful for the explanation.
“Bar spoons have many uses,” Kaitlyn explained. “They’re not just for stirring cocktails, and there’s a variety of them out there in different shapes and sizes.” This makes a lot of sense and we are not sure why we did not think of this one before.
She went on to explain that the spoon handle’s usage is “practical, but it’s also kind of a party trick.” That’s not all that she had to say, though. Kaitlyn also showed us “one of the reasons for the spiral hand designs.”
It is so the bartender is able to pour a carbonated beverage without giving the customer too much fizz to consume.
This trick allows the beverage to travel down the spiral handle, directly into the glass. It’s a pretty awesome watch, even if you do not consider yourself to be much of a barfly.
This makes for a clean pour, which is all we ask for. That’s not the only benefit that needs to be considered here, though. Kaitlyn was happy to continue explaining things to us.
“It also takes the soda down to the bottom of the glass with minimum loss of carbonation,” she shared. Stewart also warned viewers about the importance of using a clean spoon and having clean hands when we do it. This should have gone without saying but we appreciate her for passing the information along, that is for sure.
