Sugar

Out of sugar? No need to go next door to ask the neighbor for a cup, we’ve got your solution right here. Besides, human interaction is overrated anyway, right? If you find yourself out of granulated sugar, you can replace it with a few things, depending on availability and what your recipe is. A good general substitute is 1 3/4 cups of powder sugar for every 1 cup of sugar the recipe calls for. You can also replace 1 cup of sugar with 3/4 cup of honey or maple syrup. If you’re baking brownies, you can replace 1 cup of sugar with 2/3 cup of pureed dates or raisins.
