Baked Stuffed French Toast
A casserole-style take on the king of brunch staples!

French toast is one of those dishes that I would make much more often if it wasn’t so time consuming. Instead of standing in front of the stove for half an hour, you can have a whole casserole dish full with just a few minutes of prep. This Baked Stuffed French Toast takes everyday sliced bread, combines it with an irresistible cream cheese and berry jam filling, and bakes it all together so you can have brunch any day of the week.

What Ingredients Do You Need for Baked Stuffed French Toast?
- Bread (I like to use Brioche)
- Eggs
- Heavy Cream
- Cinnamon
- Sugar
- Cream Cheese
- Berry Jam
- Butter

How do you make Baked Stuffed French Toast?
Start off by preparing a 9 x 13″ baking dish with pan spray (or use some butter!), then use the butter to grease two pieces of parchment paper then use 1/4 cup of the sugar to evenly dust the buttered surfaces of the paper.

Next up you’ll want to have your custard ready to go so grab a bowl and whisk up your eggs, yolks, cream, cinnamon, and the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar and set that mixture aside while you assemble the casserole. Place one of the prepared parchment sheets into the baking dish, sugared side up, then use eight slices of bread to make a base layer on top of the parchment. Spread all that cream cheese across the surface of the bread all the way to the corners, then do the same with the jam.

Use the other eight slices of bread to make a layer on top of the jam and press down gently with your palms to make sure it sticks. Grab your custard and give it another whisk to make sure it is smooth, then pour all of it over the surface of the bread, then wait 2-3 minutes for the bread to soak up most of the liquid.

Place the other sheet of sugared parchment over the top of the bread, sugar side down, then pop it into the oven for 45-55 minutes, or until it is puffy and beautifully brown under the paper. As delicious as it looks, give it a few minutes to cool before slicing it up so it has time to set. I like to serve mine with a dusting of powdered sugar and a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.
