Walmart Broccoli Is Recalled Across 20 States

Broccoli is the vegetable of dinnertime. It has replaced the retro plate of peas, becoming a shifting chameleon and absorbing the ingredients that it partners up with. Yet, this staple at the dinner table is facing one of the highest levels of recalls.

In the past few days, the FDA has categorized this recall as a Class 1 recall, meaning it is of the highest priority and poses the greatest dangers to consumers. The product is Walmart’s 12-ounce bags of Marketside Broccoli Florets.

While the voluntary recall for the broccoli came out the previous month, the FDA changed the voluntary recall to a mandatory Class 1 reclassification. The change came after testing in one Texas store had found consistent evidence of listeria in the broccoli.

The products in question have already reached their expiration dates of December 10th, 2024. However, the FDA is concerned that these items might still be in the refrigerators of many consumers.

This recall isn’t localized and covers twenty states across the country. The 12-ounce bags of Marketside Broccoli Florets have the UPC code of 6 81131 32884 5 on the back of the bag, a Lot of Code of BFFG327A6 on the back of the bag, and a sell-by date of December 10th, 2024.
