Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

We all want a fresh bathroom. Nobody ever wants to live in a home where the bathroom smells like a public restroom after a three-day music festival.

That is why many of us strive to keep our bathrooms as clean and neat as possible. Besides the basics of keeping the toilet bowl well-scrubbed, the towels freshly changed, and the bathtub or shower nicely bleached, we also go out of our way to purchase scented candles or essential oil diffusers to give our bathrooms that extra kick of freshness.

But what if we told you that you don’t have to spend a fortune on scented accessories for your bathroom in order to achieve that desired freshness? What if we told you that you could get the same effect just using a simple toilet paper hack?

According to TipHero, you can get that “clean” smell just by putting some essential oil inside your toilet paper roll. That’s it!

It’s so quick and easy, and it doesn’t even need a top-up after that. You just put a few drops of essential oil on the inside of the toilet paper roll – the cardboard part – and then hang it up as usual. You can then use up the roll and you don’t have to worry about unpleasant smells until the next time you change your toilet paper roll.

As explained, the way it works so well is that the scent stays on the roll but then gets activated every time you “roll” the toilet paper on the holder.

This motion acts in the same manner as spraying some air freshener every time you use the bathroom. And that reactivation of the chosen essential oil scent will last all the way to the end.

Pretty neat, right? The only thing to caution is making sure the essential oil doesn’t end up on the toilet paper itself. While many of these oils can be so pleasant-smelling, they can sometimes irritate skin – particularly the extra sensitive bits that your toilet paper often comes in contact with.

But other than that, it’s a simple and cost-effective way of making sure your bathroom always smells lovely!
