Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

Any artist knows that inspiration can strike from anywhere. But it also turns out that any surface can be a blank canvas if you really want it to be. One artist and graphic designer has demonstrated how someone’s trash can literally be an artist’s treasure with some very creative works of art.

Ruby Silvious has come up with a very unique concept – and it uses a household item that would normally be tossed out. Silvious has done a project which is called the 363 Days of Tea, in which she draws out and paints a variety of different wintery sketches using the paper of old tea bags. Each creation is a unique little work of art unto itself. And it certainly shows a great deal of thought and creativity that has gone into each scene.

Check out some of our favorites below:

1. Teapots and Teacups

There is nothing more creative of an homage to everything tea than to draw and paint teapots and cups onto the used paper of tea bags. This is really something.

Everything about this scene just spells out wintertime fun. It makes us nostalgic for the cold weather and the ability to go outside and have fun with friends.

3. City Winters

The snow makes everything look magical, including the big city. And this sketch certainly captures that whimsy.

4. Wear a Mask

Like many other artists, she has taken inspiration from the world around us. Given that 2020 was the year of the COVID-19 pandemic, it makes sense that it would make it into her art.
