Popular Snack Food Recalled for Containing Wire Mesh

Flowers Foods first announced a recall for several of their Tastykake products on October 31st, 2021. That recall has been expanded to include nine product lines that have been distributed across the east coast.

The company was notified by one of its vendors about the possible metal wire mesh contamination of an ingredient used in making the Cupcakes and Krimpets. So far, no one has reported injuries or incidents surrounding the contamination, but everyone should still check their shelves to see if they have these products.

According to the FDA, “The Tastykake multi-pack cupcakes products being recalled were distributed to retail customers in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington DC, and West Virginia. The Tastykake Krimpets products being recalled were distributed to retail customers throughout the U.S.”

Take a look at the products being recalled, and pay attention to the “enjoy by” date. A lot of the cupcake items have dates well into December, and officials are worried they are sitting in people’s homes.
