It’s coming up to that glorious time of year again! Pumpkin spice everything! And given the year that it’s been, I cannot wait to treat myself to a nice pumpkin spice latte. Autumn means that we are that bit closer to a new year – something that I think many of us are greatly anticipating. We’re probably all itching to leave 2020 in the dust and roll on with 2021. But one little consolation to this dumpster fire of a year is that Starbucks will be releasing their pumpkin spice latte a little earlier this year.

Each year in August, Starbucks tries its best to hide the release date of the PSL for as long as possible. Of course, that doesn’t always work out for them. As it appears, this year’s launch date for the beloved PSL is the 25th of August.

This date was deduced from a Twitter user, @thelonevirologi, who posted a picture of a chalkboard at a Target Starbucks in West Ailis, Wisconsin which featured a countdown. The countdown on the board said six days – and @thelonevirologi posted this on the 19th of August. So with little math skills it was determined that we could all potentially be sipping PSLs as early as next week?

If it truly is the 25th of August, then that would make the date the earliest that Starbucks has ever released their PSL. Back in 2019, Starbucks delighted the public when they posted to Twitter on the 27th of August announcing, “It’s officially PSL season!”

Prior to that, most of the PSL launches were always the first week of September, with exceptions being in 2018 and 2014 with the August dates of the 28th and 26th, respectively.

Regardless of whenever the PSL hits Starbucks menus this year, there is one thing that is clear – we need it badly. 2020 has not been our year in the slightest and a warm PSL will make things a little better.

Besides the iconic pumpkin spice latte, Starbucks will also be releasing all its fall favorites on the menu, such as their pumpkin scone, pumpkin cream cheese muffin, and their pumpkin cream cold brew – the perfect solution for the PSL cravings on a warm summer day. Even if you’re not in the mood for pumpkin spice, you can also anticipate the return of their salted caramel mocha.

While we’re still patiently waiting for Starbucks to release its PSL everything, Dunkin’ actually got ahead of the curve by releasing their fall flavors as early as August 19th.

Hopefully, the comfort of a PSL will help ease the sting of this year.
