Making Mealtime Meaningful: Discover how we're giving back with the 12T Cares program →

We know that it is important to take care of our dental health but there are some things we might do and don’t give much thought to it. One of those may be sharing a toothbrush with our family.

Admittedly, some people would run screaming at the thought of sharing a toothbrush with anyone but others don’t really bat an eye at the subject. If you happen to be one of those who would never share a toothbrush with your family, then someone would like to talk to you.

A dental hygienist named Jess Potter went on TikTok to tell us why you should share a toothbrush with your family. It is normally something that can be of benefit, she even tells her patients to do it.

Although the clip is less than a minute long, it has already reached tens of thousands of views on social media. It’s little wonder, as it is such a difficult subject.

She said: “I always recommend getting an electric toothbrush, but I know at the moment with everything that’s going on, it’s a struggle with money.”

She went on to explain that it was an electric toothbrush and not a regular toothbrush. You can have a single handle and interchange the heads for each person.

After having multiple conversations with her patients over the years who cannot afford an electric toothbrush for every family member, she thought this was one way for it to happen.

She said that many of her patients are following the advice and loving it. She also says that you don’t have to purchase one of the more expensive electric toothbrush replacement heads. Just get one at the drugstore that fits.

Apparently, it is the brush that is the most effective part. It has pressure sensors that prevent over-brushing in certain areas.

Some people who commented on the video said they already were doing this, while others said they would never do it.

There was even one comment that said she mentioned it to her dentist, and was called disgusting!
