It seems as if everybody has their own joke about road work. After all, it seems to happen at the most inconvenient times in the most inconvenient locations. In addition, it may last a lot longer than we think it should.

For one woman in New Orleans, a birthday celebration was in order because they had been working on the road in front of her house for an entire year. It was just her way of letting people know that the street construction was taking place for a very long time.

Ever since Natalie Naquin Harvey posted the celebration pictures on Facebook, it has gone viral with hundreds of people sharing the post.

She said: “It was one year ago this week when they first began to rip up our street. One year later, half the street is impassable – just last week, we had a massive, 6-foot-deep hole!”

For the cake, she decided to go with a chocolate sponge with peanut butter frosting. She also had it decorated with a replica of what was taking place in front of her house. It isn’t just her home that is suffering, the entire street is torn up.

She said that the driveways were blocked for three months over the summer and the other side of the street is blocked at this time. In her estimation, it is a sporadic construction schedule that has caused the inconvenience.

She talks about how they will work every day for a week and then there may be up to three weeks where they don’t even come on the job. In the past couple of weeks, things have picked up, perhaps even due to her celebratory Facebook post.
